Generative AI could put an end to open-source libraries.

 

A  lawsuit was filed against Copilot (owned by GitHub, a subsidiary of Microsoft) alleging that those companies created the GitHub Copilot AI-powered programming assistant that used code without crediting the authors. Copilot is trained on public repositories of code scraped from the web, many of which are published with licenses that require anyone to reuse the code to credit its creator.
